love on a wire

love on a wire, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

This love on a wire song I found on YouTube, it's by quite seventies Smokie.

But you better listen to this beautiful love on a (Spanish) wire song by my favorite singer Bebe.

happiness on a hook

happiness on a hook, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

A cheerfully decorated and colored envelope fell through the letterbox this morning, or rather there was a small party on the doormat.

The packaging was a gift itself and almost a shame to unpack this work of art and when I unwrapped the paper, the happy hanger appeared.

Yay, it's peachy perfect to speak in terms of Dottie Angel. Thank you Tif, you're such a sweetheart!

global happy hangers exchange

When I discovered Dottie Angels happy hangers last week, I went straight to her Etsy shop to buy one. Not even one hangers in the shop so I wrote Tif a little note about it and she replied and suggested to exchange happy hangers!

What a wonderful swap idea. So currently two happy hangers are passing eachother somewhere above the ocean.

Imagine this pretty orange & pink happy hanger will soon be mine and this wood & wool hanger in the pattern of Dottie Angel's first stool is shipped with some small bird whistles to my dear friend. (unfortunately the windup jumping hare did not fit in the envelope Tif, but I promise to send it to you next time)

nina's wedding dress hanger

Lately I'm a little in the atmosphere of weddings, at least it seems so.

First I made the wedding present for Jen & Dan and a few weeks ago Nina asked me, if I could make her a colored wood & wool hanger for her wedding dress. Yay, sure! I'm always up for some romance. She send me the color scheme of their wedding and this is the result.

For clarity, it's not Nina's wedding dress, but I've taken this photo to send along with the message for Nina to let her know her custom order was ready. She replied within a few seconds and she was so happy with her hanger and so excited about it! She just could not keep this a secret untill September and shared her bursting excitement immediately with the readers of her blog with a little sneak peak.

I'm looking forward to Nina & Simon's wedding and till than I will follow their wedding plans on naturally nina.

chickens & stools

chickens & stools, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Last week I have been working on a new project for a customer; a "pied de stalle". It was a bit of calculating and drawing, but actually the same concept as the normal wood & wool stool. The pied de stalle is obviously meant as a table for a large vase of flowers or a plant. The top exceptionally is made of colored recycled wood instead of the traditional crochet cover. The object has ultimately become two times as high as the regular stool. It turned out quite pretty and I wish I could keep it myself.

For a photo shoot of nine new stools and the pied de stalle we drove with the 2CV (yes, it's being repaired again!) to a large wooden barn of a fruit farm in the neighborhood. During unloading the stools, some curious chickens came to take a closer look to what was happening on their farmyard. The fruit farmer himself even sprinkled some bread to keep the spontaneous models on the set. It was really fun and a big cackling.

You can soon admire the pied de stalle in cafe restaurant Usine. Usine is located in the icon of Eindhoven, the Lighthouse, the former Philips lamp factory. This magnificent building was built in 1919.

design your own life: ludde & vågö

It was not easy to get this IKEA PS Vågö chair designed by Thomas Sandell.
A typical case of love at first sight. It's perfect for outdoor use and came in the colors black, white, green & orange.

Unfortunately the easy garden chair disappeared very quickly from the PS collection and I occasionally searched on the web for a secondhand chair.

With spring approaching, I ventured once again an attempt to obtain this classic design. I finally found one and was also fortunate, it was in my favorite color and accompanied by a matching footstool. Yay!

This morning the big package arrived and the plastic seating surface was rather cold when I made a test sit, so I put my sheepskin Ludde on it and enjoyed the new Vågö while reading the newspaper.

Now the seat is moved to the backyard and I look forward to the spring, for it's a perfect chair to 'sit and hook'.

soul sister stools

soul sister stools, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Some time ago I received a request from Tif to make two more stools to join her others. She asked for two similar stools with a beautifully detailed description, including little orange border.

In her blog Dottie Angel (we're talking about a blog far beyond blogging) already confessed her addiction and even called herself a stoolaholic.

I felt a little embarrassed, for Tif had to wait quite a few weeks already, because of the 'huge' amount of orders I received recently.

While reading the post about her addiction I wrote a comment, to reassure Tif I was actually working on her covers and stools and they soon would arrive at the Mossy Shed.

Than something angelic happened. Tif asked me to send one stool to her best friend Debbie in the UK and the other one to the US, with the following statement; so they both have matching stools beside them as they crochet in the evenings, separated by miles and miles.

After nearly 30 years of being soul sisters, that's definitely a grand way to celebrate their lasting friendship and it's an incredibly sweet gesture of this angel!
